Mormon 1:1

It was a great week here in Vegas. We found some great people to teach and the weather is as great as ever. I started to wear sunscreen again.
We found a young family that really wants their children to be good people and we found a cute 71 year old women to teach. I really love my area. I have been in the same area for 6 months so I know where I am going and I know all the members. I just love everything about this place. It was weird because I never thought that I would fall in love with Vegas just because it's Vegas but now I look out and I am madly in love; especially with Sunrise Manor where I am currently serving.
This week was great! My favorite moment was when my companion and I were talking to this Spanish man. Now, I don't speak Spanish in the slightest but it's pretty cool because my companion talks to everyone and I just smile my smile and they ask for the missionaries to come back. This one man wanted us to sit down to talk to him and so I agreed because my companion is in heaven whenever she gets to speak Spanish. In the midst of the conversation she turns to me and says "Do you want to say something?" Umm, yeah, yeah I want to say something. So I listened to the Spirit really hard and I talked and my companion translated it. I have been a missionary for almost 10 months so I have go to things to say and I don't really have to focus so hard on what I am saying so it was a great experience to just listen to the Spirit and say what the Lord put into my heart.
I had some pretty interesting conversations about the Book of Mormon this week. When people ask me what the Book of Mormon is I say "The Book of Mormon is comparable to the Bible. The Bible is a record of God's dealings with His children in the Middle East and the Book of Mormon is a record of Gods dealing with His children in ancient America." Simple. But people have very varying views on what the Book of Mormon is. One false idea is that the Book of Mormon is the same as the Bible... nope, they are comparable and they compliment and complete each other (like a good couple) but they are not the same. Then other people think that the Book of Mormon is suppose to say something that the Bible doesn't. No,God isn't the author of confusion. Some people think that Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon but that isn't true either. He just translated it by the power of God. There is a lot of confusion about what the Book of Mormon is but my favorite explanation is the title "The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ." How perfect is that? My testimony of the Book of Mormon has really grown on my mission. I think I lived my whole life totally unaware with how incredible the Book of Mormon is. It's the pure word of God, it hasn't been changed by man. That blows my mind especially in this world when everything is changed. But mostly I just love that it teaches us the fullness of the gospel and teaches us more about Christ than any other book. It's just the greatest thing. Love the Book of Mormon, and I love you."
